Compressor Oil: RPL-ACO Series

Series Range:

RPL-ACO10 - Rotary / Vane
• RPL-ACO20 - Rotary / Vane
• RPL-ACO30 - Rotary / Vane / Reciprocating

Product Description:

The RPL-ACO series of compressor oils is a semi-synthetic oil formulated using highly refined, hydro-treated paraffin base oils and synthetic PAO fluids providing excellent overall performance and a high viscosity index that will allow it to out-perform traditional compressor oils. The product is designed for use in rotary screw and rotary vane type compressors.

Rotary screw and rotary vane compressors are lubricated by injecting oil directly into the compression chamber where it is subjected to high temperatures to lubricate moving parts, to provide sealing and to absorb the heat of compression.

Horizontal and vertical reciprocating compressors operate at high-pressure ratios and elevated discharge temperatures. Therefore, it is important that the oil lubricates the crankcase bearings and components, reduces friction in the compressor cylinder, lubricates the inlet and outlet valves, and assists the sealing of the piston rings, valves and packing in the cylinder while resisting the effects of elevated temperatures and pressures.

In addition, high temperatures will cause oxidation of the lubricating oil leading to the formation of hard carbon deposits in the valve area. Discharge valve deposits also occur as a result of contaminates in the intake air due to poor filtration. They can reduce compressor efficiency through leakage or restrictions, create elevated temperatures through recompression and cause a flash or fire hazard.

The RPL-ACO Series is uniquely formulated to meet these demanding requirements. In the case of RPL-ACO30, it can also be used in either rotary or reciprocating type compressors.

Features and Benefits:

• High film strength, low volatility, reduced oil consumption

• Protection against oil oxidation at high discharge temperatures reduces sludge and varnish deposits on valves and other working parts

• Compressor efficiency is improved through cleaner separators, valves and filters

• Excellent anti-wear properties and water tolerance

• Non-foaming, • Excellent rust and corrosion protection

• Separates readily from water

• High flash point above 450°F (230°C) which reduces recompression and fire hazard risks

• Extends drain intervals

• Improves sealing for better compression.

• Equipment runs cooler with less energy demands.

Method of Application:

No special precautions are required. Follow regular maintenance instructions as provided with original equipment. Although the RPL-ACO Series compressor oils are compatible with conventional compressor oils, it is recommended to thoroughly drain and clean systems prior to switching over. Once switched, the RPL-ACO Series typically extends lube intervals up to at least 3 times conventional lubricants and often more. It is recommended that oil drain intervals be established by monitoring the oil condition with lubricant analysis to be certain. Lubricant requirements vary with the type of compressor and may be further influenced by operating pressures, temperatures and other factors.

Also consider that it is important to prevent excess oil feed since it can be a contributing factor in the development of carbon deposits especially on discharge valves, impairing function and leading to excessively high discharge temperatures.
