Gear Oil:
RPL-OL Series
The RPL-OL series of gear oils are blended using 100%
Synthetic PAO and Ester base fluids with specially
designed additives for long lasting gear lubrication
under severe operating conditions and over a wide
temperature range. They provide for substantial
reductions in friction, power consumption and operating
temperatures.
RPL-OL gear oils have high Viscosity Indices which is an
excellent characteristic in a gear oil because the
higher the V.I., the less likely will the viscosity
reacts to changes in temperature from factors including
start-up, initial loading, operating load and spikes in
temperature. High V.I. oils tend not to lose viscosity
as a result of things like mechanical shearing, even in
heavily loaded gear applications, and this provides for
increased protection for your gear applications. RPL-OL
gear oils are extremely stable at elevated temperatures
and resist the oxidation and thermal degradation that
occurs in more conventional oils.
RPL-OL gear oils are recommended for industrial bearings
and gears operating over a wide temperature range. They
are recommended for lubrication of industrial hypoid
type gears, gears subjected to shock loading,
transmission gear cases and worm drive axles on mobile
contractor type equipment including open pit and
underground mining machinery. They also provide superior
lubrication of enclosed gear drives and reducers from
fractional horsepower gear motors to large horsepower
units on rolling mills and mine hoists with a wide
variety of gears including spur, bevel, herringbone and
worm types.

Follow regular lubrication instructions as provided with
original equipment. It is recommended to thoroughly
drain and clean systems prior to switching over. RPL-OL
gear oils contain esters which may not be fully
compatible with all materials and are not recommended
for certain types of seals, paints and plastics. The
proper type of grade of gear oil is important to the
performance and life of a gear set. Selection of the
correct lubricant viscosity is based on speed, load,
operating temperatures and gear geometry.

So how do you know which is the right one? The
answer is: it depends on your specific application.
Factors including temperature, load, contaminants, lube intervals,
speed, food grade
requirements, and the operating environment usually
set the stage for the type of gear oil protection
you need.
